FRESHERS 2012

Orienteering - Try Something New! It's like running, but better

With A level results now out, you'll now know that you're coming to Cambridge. Want to join the orienteering club? Visit us at the freshers fair, or email captain to find out more! Joining will give you great subsidies on any races you attend!

Check back at the end of September for our full start of term activities including the Freshers Squash, Freshers Race and the usual training sessions and socials. Everyone is welcome at all these races, even if you're not really a fresher... See you there!

Orienteering is the sport of navigating against the clock through unfamiliar terrain. Competitors are given a map at the start of each orienteering race and must visit a series of control points in order using only a compass and their skill as navigators to complete the course. It's a really fun mental and physical challenge that can literally take you anywhere from races through central Cambridge colleges to army bases and even chicken farms, though quite a lot of our races are in Thetford Forest. We go on lots of trips, leaving Cambridge for nearby forests most Sunday mornings and venturing further afield for races like the British Championships. If you want to know more, feel free to get in touch with the captains or read our Introduction to Orienteering.
